Forming metal parts with molds
Forming a workpiece is to bring a punch into the cavity or the gap of the die. There will be no stretching of the sheet metal. Thus creating a gap between the punch and die that is equal to the thickness of the sheet metal. The sheet metal therefore deforms according to the shape of the designed punch and die. Initial worksheets often have to go through a Blank Development method in order to obtain a complete part after forming without cutting edges again.
