Citizen Fine Devices has a wide range of MEMS products regardless of the material. We can also perform integrated processing, so we generally refer to the three categories of "microfabrication, bonding and encapsulation, and functional thin film" as MEMS!
◆What is MEMS?
MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) refers to devices in which mechanical element parts, sensors, actuators, and electronic circuits are integrated on a single silicon substrate, glass substrate, or organic material using microfabrication technology.
Due to process restrictions and material differences, mechanical structures and electronic circuits may be separate chips, and such hybrids are also called MEMS.
The major difference between MEMS and ordinary semiconductors is that MEMS have a three-dimensional structure and movable parts.
◆Uses of MEMS
MEMS technology, which was developed in the mid-1900s, has been used in accelerometers and gyro-sensors built into smartphones and other devices since 2000.
The application of MEMS technology has expanded to a wide range of fields, including automotive and automated driving, big data, AI, robotics, health and medical care, environment and energy, etc. The latest technologies utilizing MEMS technology as a moving semiconductor are being created.
Citizen Fine Devices develops products with a wide range of applications in mind, including advanced smartphones, the Internet of Things (IoT), automated driving, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and 5G communications.
Citizen Fine Device's concept of MEMS
We have more than 20 years of experience in MEMS processing technology and have developed sensor MEMS, actuator MEMS, and package MEMS.
In the course of technological development, we have improved our microfabrication technology for base materials other than Si (ceramics, glass, and quartz), and we have also applied quartz crystal oscillator manufacturing technology to establish a system capable of handling everything from wafer fabrication to mounting of wafers formed by the process.
Currently, we are expanding our business to include consumer electronic components, watch components, and medical applications.
We have a track record of mass production of inspection plates for medical use, which was made possible by our superiority in thin-film formation technology as well as our substrate processing technology.
Our technology is not limited to products; we can also fabricate precision molds by applying the microfabrication capabilities of MEMS technology.
We offer optimum proposals by combining our technologies from the field of process prototyping and development, and we also respond to customer needs as a foundry capable of integrated production from wafer fabrication to mounting and packaging.
