Nissin CNC 3D Free-Form Pipe Bender – NPB Series

Cold plastic pipe bending is widely regarded as a very challenging process, largely due to the issue of springback caused by variations in the pipe material itself — such as allowable differences in outer diameter and wall thickness under international standards like JIS. As a result, whenever the material lot changes, it often becomes necessary to fine-tune the bending angles and other parameters in the machining program.

To minimize this challenge, our company conducted research into material parameters with the design values (from CAD data) as the baseline. By measuring the actual material parameters of the pipe stock used in cold bending and analyzing those measurements, we derived correction factors to bring the actual bent shape closer to the design target.

Param3 is a calculator application that computes these correction parameters based on measured values.
