Koyo Seiki Co., Ltd. is engaged in aluminum casting in Shibata-gun in Miyagi prefecture.
Since Koyo Seiki was founded, in terms of our gravity die casting (GDC) operations, we have been specializing in large mold aluminum casting, and in terms of our low pressure casting operations, we have specialized in thin wall and precision aluminum casting.
In addition, we are currently involved in casting railing posts (mainly with Al-Mg alloy and AC-4CH alloy (T6)) used in general road construction, thanks to our experience as a supplier of these items to JH (previously Japan Highway Public Corporation, and currently NEXCO). When production output was high, we were casting more than 4000 posts a month using more than 20 molds.
We carried out research and development with Al-Mg alloy, taking test sample pieces from actual materials and stretching them out more than 25%.
Furthermore, not only do we have experience with the full range of automotive and truck parts, but recently, we have also focused our operations on medical device parts and semiconductor assembly machine parts. We manufacture a variety of products using aluminum casting.
We have formed a strong network of reliable and experienced partner companies, which has enabled us to also deliver parts that are completely processed, and to dramatically improve our product yield rate.
We are experts in aluminum castings for individual products that weigh between 10 and 20 kg. Our long history rich in experience (in GDC, compared to low pressure casting, the casting plan, which is the product design, significantly impacts the product quality) and our integrated quality management system enables us to meet the needs and requests of our customers.
[Gravity casting]
We have experience handling various aspects of permanent mold processing for large sand mold aluminum casting, which is normally difficult to undertake. Yet, we have successfully been able to reduce product costs per unit and shorten the lead time significantly (considerably increasing our daily casting unit output).
Concerning the lead time in particular, compared to sand mold aluminum casting that involves integrating sand for each mold, we have been able to raise productivity, by up to 10 times more.
[Low pressure casting]
Compared to gravity casting or die casting, the packing density is higher for low pressure casting. Therefore, not only can we maintain ultra-thin walls with a thickness of 2 mm, but the molten metal flows more smoothly. These features make this process ideal for precision products, products with thin walls, and pressure resistant products, such intake manifolds, cylinder blocks and large size medical devices, etc.
Regarding our casting production output, we support various requests from high-mix low-volume lots to mass production, and we can scale our production output from 30 to 10,000 units per month.
