Why is ceramic so expensive for everyone? For those who think "Why are all ceramics so expensive?
Characteristics of two types of ceramic materials
Alumina: High mechanical strength such as corrosion and wear resistance, but more expensive than steatite (about 1.5 times more expensive).
Steatite: Good insulation properties and low cost. (Often used for electrical and heating parts.)
Frequently Asked Examples
If a part is made of alumina, it is naturally more expensive than if it is made of steatite, which is also sufficient for insulation purposes.
If a part is made of steatite for wear resistance because it is inexpensive, it will wear out quickly and as a result, more parts will be made and the cost will increase.
The key to purchasing ceramics at low cost is to select the material that best suits the application.
Example of alumina use.
*Metal jigs were troubled by rapid wear, but when alumina was used, wear slowed down to an extreme degree.
Ceramic is safe to use because it is used in an environment where rust and dirt are not allowed.
*We use water and water-soluble chemicals, so the parts corrode quickly, but after switching to alumina, they no longer corrode at all.
Examples of steatite use
*When we requested alumina parts for insulation purposes, Steatite was suggested to us.
We were able to purchase it at a lower price than we had originally expected.
We tried using resin for insulation parts, but it was not durable.
When we requested a jig to be used in a high temperature environment (800°C), Steatite was found to be sufficient and we were able to purchase it at a low price.
Ceramic materials
We are willing to make proposals in all aspects, including price and delivery time, in order to expand the use of ceramics for our customers.
What is the best ceramic for this kind of use?
Will it crack? Is it possible to achieve such precision?
