Automobile (trial production)
Looking back at the development of plastic processing using presses, it can be said that manufacturing in a variety of industrial fields has been carried out using two different processing methods: "sheet metal processing", in which parts are formed from plate material, and "forging", in which parts are formed from cylindrical cut round bar material.
In recent years, as parts have become more precise and functional, there has been an increase in parts that are difficult to process using a single processing method.
During this process, MI Seiko's mold design and press processing technologies were utilized, and through repeated prototyping, they arrived at MI Seiko's proprietary QBF method (quarter back pressure forging).
The QBF method is a process that combines plate forging and deep drawing, and is capable of high-precision processing of around ±10 μm, which was previously thought to be possible only with cutting.
