A spray gun is a device used for painting that relies on air pressure or high-pressure paint particles to create a consistent spray mist. The main components of a spray gun include:
1. Nozzle and Needle
- Controls the amount and distribution pattern of the paint mist.
- Available in various sizes such as 1.0 mm, 1.3 mm, and 1.5 mm, depending on the type of paint and its application.
- The needle regulates the flow of paint to prevent over-spraying.
2. Paint Cup
- A container used to store the paint for spraying.
- There are two main types:
- Gravity Feed (paint cup on top), which uses gravity to help feed paint into the nozzle.
- Suction Feed (paint cup below), which uses suction to draw paint up for spraying.
3. Air Valve
- Adjusts the air pressure entering the spray gun.
- Influences the fineness of the paint mist and the force of the spray.
4. Fluid Control Knob
- Controls the amount of paint that exits the nozzle.
- Turn to increase or decrease the paint output.
5. Fan Control Knob
- Adjusts the spray pattern, such as circular, flat, or wide.
- Used for controlling the precision and direction of the paint mist.
6. Air Inlet
- The connection point for the air pump or air supply source.
- Standard thread size to accommodate the air pressure.
7. Trigger
- Used to control the paint spray.
- Pressing the trigger opens both the air and paint valves simultaneously for spraying.
Summary
A spray gun consists of seven main parts: the nozzle, needle, paint cup, air control valve, fluid control knob, fan control knob, air inlet, and trigger. These components work together to ensure that the paint application is efficient and precise as desired.
