Currently, for the jointing of high-strength bolts, the JASS-6 Standard Specifications for Building Construction and the Technical Guidelines for Steel Construction stipulate the removal of mill scale from the joint surfaces and the verification of red rust formation.
Normally, such rust formation is achieved by leaving steel materials, from which mill scale has been removed, outdoors for a long time. However, with the dramatically shortened construction periods in civil and building construction, the occurrence of rust is often influenced by natural conditions such as geographical or meteorological conditions, which can often cause delays in construction schedules.
For this reason, agents that artificially accelerate the formation of rust are used, but depending on the type and method of use of these agents, there have been practical problems such as insufficient rust formation, excessive rusting, and concerns about the progression of corrosion even after tightening.
"Hitlock B" ensures the appearance of rust within a few hours just by applying it to the joint surface, and the generated rust is stabilized without the fear of excessive corrosion progression.
