In 1907, Ono Corporation was the first company in Japan to produce packing for ships. Until then, imported products had been preferred. Ono Corporation’s revolutionary packing was approved by both Mitsubishi and Kawasaki’s shipyards, and its quality was later considered high enough to be used on the Japanese navy’s lead battleship, Yamato, which shattered the previous mentality that Japanese products were inferior to imported ones. Ono Corporation achieved a string of successes including foundation of Kobe and Kyushu factories, technical alliances with overseas companies, a large number of utility model patents and the steady growth of the company. Ono Corporation’s history is built on advancement. Our spirit of taking on challenges has been passed down through each era and is alive in each and every one of our employees. To this day, we refuse to remain satisfied with the status quo and are constantly seeking new ways of doing things.
We use our unique technology to produce packing and gaskets for a wide range of industries. We are also actively branching into new fields, including cutting-edge fields such as semiconductors, fields entrenched in our everyday lives such as clothing, food and housing, and the development of new material products made from materials such as ceramics, engineering plastics and functional polymers. In today’s technological revolution, our spirit of taking on new challenges is allowing us to discover more new horizons than ever before.
